I thought I understood what the word tired meant…

Attempting to describe fatigue to someone who has never experienced it before can be a daunting task. I am getting tired just thinking about it. LOL! People I have come in contact with don’t often understand the sheer scale of what I am going through…. hence the purpose of this blog. #SharingisCaring
Fatigue is probably the most common symptom in MS but seems to be invisible to most other people. Experiencing fatigue for me may be leaning against the wall or holding onto a shopping cart (those who know me, know I enjoy shopping) or simply drinking too much coffee because I am trying to get the fog out of my head. Let me preface It won’t be sorted out by having a good night’s sleep or a nap in the afternoon. I was up to 4 cups (32oz each) a day mainly because of some meds that I am now off of. A great description is the combination of having a hangover, being jet lagged from a long trip, and having the flu! Let’s play a game…
Remember the worst hangover you have ever had.
How did you feel when you tried to get out of bed the next morning? Did it last into the following day?
Save the memory as we move on…
Jet Lag Sucks!
What was your longest trip? Road, plane, or sea... Maybe you felt exhausted even disoriented. I remember falling asleep in the lobby after taking an all nighter. So embarassing but I don't sleep on planes.
Keep that memory for a second as we add one more thing…
Recall the worst flu experience you have ever had.
Do you remember how ache your body felt? I know I had the hardest time getting out of bed. Simple daily tasks made me feel even worse.
NOW COMBINE ALL THREE!
This is horrendous right? How bad would that be you ask? Hearing “everyone gets tired sometimes” is sympathetic but way off. I push through this almost daily because i want a sense of normalcy and I want to hang with my friends.
